Welcome to the BambooBasic community! We want this to be a friendly, helpful place for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned coders. These rules keep it that way.

1. Be decent

Treat others with respect, even when you disagree
Critique code and ideas, not people
Everyone was a beginner once. No sneering at "simple" questions
No harassment, bullying, hate speech or discrimination of any kind
No trolling or deliberately starting arguments

2. Post in the right place

Pick the section that fits best. Bug reports in Bugs, finished or in-progress games in Showcase, reusable snippets in Code Archive, and so on
Search before posting. Your question may already be answered
Use clear, descriptive thread titles
Keep threads on topic. If a tangent grows, start a new thread
Please read the sticky at the top of each section; it explains how that section works

3. Asking for help

Say what you're trying to do, what you tried, and what happened
Post relevant code in a bamboo code block, and paste error messages exactly
When your problem is solved, mark the answer (or say what fixed it) so others can benefit
Be patient. Everyone here is helping in their own time

4. Sharing code and games

Only post work that's yours, or that you have permission to share
Credit others when you use or adapt their code or assets
[Unless stated otherwise, code posted in the Code Archive is shared under the MIT licence]
Embedded games must follow the rules in the Showcase sticky, including having your website set in your profile
No malicious code, hidden tracking, or anything that asks for passwords or personal details

5. No piracy or illegal content

No cracked software, keygens, warez or pirated assets
No links to them either, and no asking where to find them
Respect other people's licences and copyrights

6. Keep it clean

Keep content suitable for a general audience
No adult or gratuitously graphic content, including in games, avatars and signatures
Mild language is fine in context; don't overdo it

7. Promotion and spam

Sharing your own projects is welcome, that's what Showcase is for
No spam, unrelated advertising, or posting the same thing in multiple places
No referral links or posting just to drive traffic elsewhere

8. Accounts and privacy

One account per person
Don't impersonate others, including staff
Don't share other people's personal information
Never share your password. Staff will never ask for it

9. AI-generated content

AI-assisted code is welcome, but please say so when posting, and make sure you understand and have tested what you share.

10. Moderation

Use Flag to report posts that break the rules rather than arguing in the thread
Staff may edit, move, lock or remove posts to keep things tidy and on track
Breaking the rules may lead to a warning, a temporary suspension, or a ban, depending on severity
If you disagree with a moderation decision, message a staff member privately. Please don't argue it out in public threads

These rules may be updated over time. By posting here, you agree to follow them.
